Hey! It’s Dayna. I’m so thrilled to be back after taking such a long break from photography. Photography has always been a passion of mine ever since before I can remember. It became a dream come true when I moved from Toronto to the Rockies to take on a photography job where I specialized in engagement and couple shoots.
It was in 2020 where I put my photography business on hold. I had a lot going on on my plate. Between working my new nursing job, moving into a new house, and planning my own wedding, there has been no time to really focus on my photography. It was easy to lose sight of my passion that fueled my drive.
Returning to photography now is a little bit daunting. It won’t be easy to get back into it – getting a new client base and starting from scratch. However, it is exciting! It’s like seeing an old friend again after a period of time. I picked up my camera for the first time in a while the other day and inspiration just came roaring back. I knew I had to do something to get back into what puts me into my happy place.
The photos I added in the post are photos that I took during a mentor session. I decided to do a mentor session not too long ago in order to get back into the rhythm of photo sessions, and it was so. much. fun!
For anyone out there who have taken breaks from hobbies or passion projects, remember that the flame may never go out completely. When the time comes to pick up where you left off, take a deep breath, trust the skills and the passion that once got you going, and let that drive push you forward again.
